I honestly think Zook is a better coach than anyone gives him credit for.

He took over Florida at a time that they were on the downswing and I'm not sure if anyone could have done much better. I think you will continue to see that this season, as Florida will fall and lose atleast 3 regular season games.

He is in an awful situation at Illinois. He's not the Bear or General Neyland, but I think he is better than given credit for.

Well....i'll assume that you're right...but that just means that he has the WORST luck of any coach in HISTORY!! I agree...Illinois is a horrible situation for him!!

I think he is on par with Houston Nutt, Jim Donnan, Guy Morris, Mike Leach, Mike Belotti, Mike Shula to name a few.

I really don't think that Florida was on the downswing. They had a Heisman calibre QB in Rex Grossman, and had we not beaten them in an extremely close game, they would have gone to the SEC championship, and then probably to the national championship. That was Spurrier's final year. They went from being a touchdown away from playing for the national championship to... the past few years.

First off they weren't a TD away, they were a TD away and then a whole game against the LSU Tigers away.

Grossman wasn't the whole team, and after the players left after 01, we saw that translate on the field. I know, I know. I said it, so you have to disagree with me, but the fact is, Leak wasn't all that he thought he was, and some of the other players they have got haven't played TEAM ball. They are in serious jeopardy of repeating last year's Tennessee team. They have too much faith in a coach that has won in inferiour conferences and are not focusing on preparing for each opponent as much as they should.

The game in 2001, was not nearly as close as the score indicated either. Tennessee dominated Florida that night.

Yeah, one of the announcers in that game was talking about how last year when the Illini came back on Rutgers was "one of the few highlights Ron Zook had last year." I couldn't help but chuckle to myself about it and wish he was still there. I am still not sold on Meyer as a good coach either though
