In an interesting turn of events, shooting guard Kevin Punter will visit Tennessee this weekend instead of SMU as previously planned, according to Ben Frederickson. Punter will make a decision between Missouri and Tennessee sometime before May 16, which is the date he graduates from State Fair Community College.
Punter initially committed to former Missouri coach Frank Haith — who left for Tulsa — but announced his decommitment on Monday. “It’s Been A lot For Me And My Family. But I Have Officially Decommitted From Mizzou !,” Punter tweeted.
The 6-foot-4 shooting guard averaged 20.3 points last year in junior college and will have two years of eligibility remaining. Coach Tyndall recruited him at Southern Miss last summer.
“One of my most consistent players this year,” his coach told the News Sentinel. “He is a guy who worked extremely hard on his game. Every morning he is in the gym, getting shots up. We’ve seen him grow leaps and bounds since he stepped foot on campus. He’s very professional about his play.”
