Class of 2014 Maryland forward Tariq Owens (Scout 4-star, top 100) committed to and signed with Tennessee this afternoon, becoming the eighth member of the signing class. The 6-foot-10, 210-pound forward was released from the letter of intent he signed with Ohio University due to a coaching change. He will enroll and Tennessee this summer and will have four years of eligibility.
“Tariq is a very long, athletic and versatile post player,” coach Donnie Tyndall said. “For a guy his size, he has a really impressive skill level. He can step out and make 15- to 18-footers, and he certainly has the potential to impact the game at the defensive end early in his career.”
