Woody Wommack and Adam Krohn of Rivals.com were on hand to watch some of the top prospects in the southeast this past weekend. One player that was particularly impressive, according to their analysis was Tennessee defensive end commitment Andrew Butcher.
“Butcher had a monster game and thanks to his performance, his team was able to stay in the game early despite a poor start offensively,” Wommack and Krohn wrote. “He finished the game with 11 total tackles and 2.5 sacks and was nearly impossible to slow down as a pass rusher. He also pulled double duty as a long snapper and recovered a fumble while playing on special teams. With the way his team’s offense looked, Butcher is going to have to have a big year to help his team and he got off to a pretty good start.”
For his performance he earned an A Grade.

It’s amazing this kid has been committed to Tennessee since June of last year.
Can’t wait to get him in orange!
Thanks for the comment, jman.
Looking forward to seeing him and McKenzie on the same D line.
Agreed. I keep saying it’s like we’re getting back to the type of lineman we had in the late 90s with Haynesworth and Henderson.
Thanks for the comment, vader.
Like the fact he’s willing to do “little things” like deep snapping.
Looking forward to having him in orange!
I know right? Long snapper? Who knew?
I like the new style of page. Black and white is easy to read. As for the article, Butcher is one of my favorite commits.
Thanks for the feedback Burger. I’m not sure this is a final design, just something simple while I work out some details.
Double digit tackles from a down lineman is crazy. Seems like it’s been 100 years since we had disruptive defensive linemen.
Thanks for the comment GA. Solid as always. It would be interesting to see a discussion on disruptive defensive lineman that we’ve had in our lifetime. Hayenesworth and Henderson is the only duo that always pops into the forefront of my mind.
you must be a youngun? 🙂
More along the lines of bad memory. 🙂
Excited for the Big Orange future!
Pretty awesome. Yes. ???
How about Reggie White?
He was a great one. The question is can you remember any other that played along side of him?
Nice look, Freak. Nice & clean. Wait… this is a Vols site… where the orange at?
Yeah, it’s still in beta. You want to design the final look for me? 🙂
