Butch Jones spends Friday night visiting five-star tackle

Butch Jones visited Memphis University School on Friday night to check in on five-star offensive tackle Drew Richmond, who is currently committed to Ole Miss.

Jones is putting (keeping) the full court press on Richmond and his presence didn’t go unnoticed by those attending the game, as fans in the stadium chanted his name.

“It’s the state of Tennessee and we’re the state institution, so to be able to come out tonight, breakaway from the hotel a little bit and some team activities, and soak in a high school football game is very, very special and critical for us,” Butch Jones said.

“They are on the rise,” Richmond said of Tennessee. “I feel like they’ll be back sooner or later. Just like Ole Miss was down, now they’re up. Alabama was down. It’s cycles. Everything is in cycles. They’re on their way back up, like I said. I love the program a lot.”

Richmond told WVLT that the outcome of Saturday’s game won’t sway him and anything is possible come next signing day.

  2. young Mr Richmond and coach Jones seem to have a very special bond,I hope that will pull Drew to the Vols,he could very well be the trigger that sets the Vols on right track faster

    players of his caliber are needed and will get instant playing time,but i wish him well,where ever he decides to go,unless he is playing against the Vols 🙂

Vols have 5 star DT’s on the way…5 star WR’s….But getting Richmond could be more important than any of the above…..Richmond would have a great QB to play with as well….I like Ole Miss, glad for there success….they’ve. Never jad it….but feel there still a flash in the pan….when Vols.hit….there hitting for a long time….history says so.
