Five-star wide receiver prospect and current Tennessee commitment Preston Williams made a surprise visit to Georgia over the weekend.
According to his coach, Williams wanted to take a look at his home state school.
“I just know he did want to take a look at Georgia,” Lovejoy coach Edgar Carson told the AJC. “He’s a homegrown Georgia kid, and he wanted to go there and look around.”
Williams also plans to visit Auburn, but he’s still committed to Tennessee.
“Right now he’s still committed,” Carson said. “But he did want to look around because he committed so early. So I understand that. Tennessee is where he has spent most of his time. I guess he wanted to see what else is out there.”
For now, the consensus seems to be the Williams ends up in Knoxville.
Despite visit to #UGA this weekend, confidence still seems high on #Vols part to keep WR Preston Williams. pic.twitter.com/QNW3LEkTD9

With that knee problem, tell him take a walk if he wants to.
I didn’t have you ignored.
Til now.
Whether it begins next year or in 2016, P-dub is going to be an absolute beast for us.
terry, usually you’re entertaining at the least. This, however, is pure retardism.
You dont tell kids that talented to walk.
I’m with you. I think we’d all rather he not take other visits, but if he needs to reassure himself of his choice, then so be it. Choosing a school is a life-altering decision for these kids.
Thanks for the comments guys.
I’ve spoken with Preston and I’d be very surprised if he flipped to a different school. His fiance’ goes to UT and he said he plans on getting married here.
Hope the young man loves UT as much as we do. He can be part of the rise to the top under Butch.
We need to support our recruits, period. If they don’t feel comfortable here then we shouldn’t be twisting their arms. In the end, our recruits need to do what they feel is best for them, and if they leave we should be man enough to wish them good luck. I want to win as badly as everyone else but life is full of choices, some we embrace and others we regret–hard to know the difference at age 18, and sometimes beyond. Go VOLS!
In past years, look at all of the great recruits that de committed from the Vols and signed elsewhere. Most didn’t pan out very well.
Gabe Wright is NOT a household name at Auburn! Marlon Brown seldom saw the field at UGA and definately didn’t make much of an impact there. Ambles de committed and has not been heard from again. The linebacker from Kentucky, who ended up at USC, has never been heard from again. The linebacker who de committed and ended up at Arkansas is not an impact player.
When a player first de commits, it is shock and ” Oh My Goodness, what will we do now?” Then reality hits and we move on with another player who is as good or better.
He will sign with Wide Receiver U and continue the tradition that started with Stanley Morgan and continues with our current group of WR’s such as Marquez North and Josh Malone.
