After the Vols’ defense forced a much-needed turnover, Tennessee called timeout with 11.9 seconds left and Donnie Tyndall drew up the perfect play.
Needing a three-pointer to tie, senior Josh Richardson penetrated and kicked out to a wide open Robert Hubbs III. The shot, which looked like it had a chance, rimmed out and the Vols fell to No. 25 Arkansas by a score of 69-64.
Richardson led Tennessee in scoring with 17 points, followed by Hubbs with 15.
Tennessee hosts Bruce Pearl’s Auburn Tigers at Thompson-Boling Arena on Saturday at noon.
