Tennessee redshirt-junior quarterback Nathan Peterman is transferring to Pittsburgh, according to Panther247. As a graduate transfer, he will be eligible to play immediately in 2015.

Just three weeks ago, then offensive coordinator Mike Bajakian indicated that Peterman wasn’t expected to transfer. However, Bajakian has since accepted a position with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as quarterbacks coach.

Jim Chaney, who coached at Tennessee from 2009-2012 and helped recruit Peterman to Knoxville, left Arkansas earlier this month and is now the offensive coordinator position at Pittsburgh.

Peterman was a four-star prospect out of high school in the class of 2012 and the No. 8 pro-style quarterback, according to Rivals.com.

After redshirting the 2012 season, Peterman appeared in 11 games for the Vols during the 2013 and 2014 seasons, completing 20 of 43 passes for 94 yards.

  1. Surprised he would go to a major university. I thought he would drop down in levels and attend a college that he could get immediate playing time. Maybe Furman, UTC, etc.etc.
