As reported on last night’s game broadcast between Tennessee and ETSU, freshman forward John Fulkerson underwent elbow surgery on Wednesday.
It was originally reported that Fulkerson dislocated his right elbow against Lipscomb on December 15th, and is expected to miss at least six weeks.
“Six weeks at a minimum but in the meantime we’ve got a group of guys that I think can play and we’re going to keep working and figure out what we can do,” head coach Rick Barnes said.
Fulkerson, who hails from Kingsport, appeared in 10 games for the Vols this season, averaging 4.7 points and 4.6 rebounds in 16 minutes of play. He recorded his first career double-double against No. 13 Oregon, with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Based on his limited number of appearances this season, a medical redshirt could still be in play.
