Redhshirt freshman wide receiver Vincent Perry from Nashville’s Hillsboro High School has left the Tennessee football team and has no intention of returning after Christmas break according to sources at the Music City Bowl, John Brice reported on Wednesday.
Perry missed the 2015 season with a major knee injury suffered in preseason training camp and was ruled academically ineligible to play in 2016, which cost him his scholarship.
“He will have the opportunity to earn his scholarship back by his performance off and on the field,” UT department spokesman Ryan Robinson said back in June.
Perry was a three-star prospect out of high school and the No. 18 player in the state of Tennessee, according to 247Sports.
