Is Butch Jones the best coach in the SEC East?

According to Dr. Ed Fang, Butch Jones is the best coach in the SEC East.

Fang “uses his Stanford Ph.D. in applied math to make football and March Madness predictions,” according to his profile.

This got me thinking? Who is the best coach in the SEC East?

I think it’s Tennessee’s Butch Jones by a mile. The visual shows what he’s done in his four years in Knoxville: taken an FBS average team and made them better.

Of course, that’s not good enough in Knoxville. And the Vols struggled in 2016 in response to top 10 preseason expectations.

However, Tennessee suffered from numerous defensive injuries down the stretch last season. This played a large role in their dip in rating from the previous season.

He goes on to write that of the top three programs in the East (Tennessee, Georgia and Florida), the Vols are the only program he believes is headed in the right direction.

    • I figured this out about Butch early on. I’m doubtful some of the knuckle heads posting here can comprehend and repeat truthful talking points.

  1. Last year was a bit of a let-down, but anyone with half a brain should know that when half your starters on D are out due to injuries, and several O players as well, it is going to be very tough to meet expectations, especially from our rabid fan base. Yet we played some really good teams to the bitter end, and beat Flor-duh. No question we are much better than we were before Butch.
