Tennessee Vols Football News
September 4, Monday
- The day I thought may never get here is finally here as Tennessee kicks off the 2017 college football season in Atlanta. Be sure to check out our live game thread before, during and after the game. Also, if you haven’t posted it already, be sure to get in your score pick for a chance to win an Amazon gift card. Since it’s game day, I don’t have a long post, but here are few things you may have missed over the weekend and this morning.
- On College Game Day, Lee Corso and Sam Hunt picked the Vols to beat Georgia Tech. Desmond Howard, that Heisman stealer, picked the Jackets, to the surprise of no one. He clearly hates Tennessee.
- SEC Nation unanimously likes the Vols to win tonight.
- Vols in the NFL update: Good news for former VFL wide receiver Justin Hunter, he made the Steelers’ 53-man roster. Unfortunately, as well as LaTroy Lewis seemingly played this preseason, he did not make the Raiders’ roster, but all is not lost as he’s headed to the Texans. Matt Simms was waived by the Falcons.
- Tennessee named its four captains over the weekend for Monday night’s season opener: John Kelly, Cortez McDowell, Jashon Robertson and Kendal Vickers.
- Here’s an interesting stat: Tennessee has lost four-straight games when ranked. Vols look to buck that trend today.
- Watch the Vols show off tonight’s uniforms.
- Personally, I think it’s pretty freaking cool that Butch Jones (or the university) sent Josh Dobbs a “VFL care package.” Well done.
- For those heading to the stadium this afternoon, there is no Vol Walk, unfortunately.
- Vol wide receiver commit Jatavious Harris says he’ll be at the Tennessee game tonight.
- Leave me a comment below today and let me know your plans for the day and your thoughts/reactions to tonight’s game. Go Vols!
