Tennessee landed its second commitment of the day on Friday as safety Antonio Johnson from East St. Louis High School in Illinois committed to the Vols.
Johnson is a 4-star prospect, according to 247 sports. He’s ranked as the No. 11 safety and the No. 161 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite rankings.
He currently has 24 offers from schools such as LSU, Texas A&M, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan, Mississippi State, and Nebraska, among others.
“First I would like to thank God for putting me in this position and I am truly blessed for my support system which includes my family, coaches and teammates who all helped me through the process,” Johnson wrote on Twitter. “It was not easy but I will be committing to …… The University of Tennessee.”
Johnson (6-2, 185) joins his teammate, Javontez Spraggins, who committed to Tennessee earlier this evening. Both camped at Tennessee on Friday.
With the addition of Spraggins and Johnson, the Vols now have eight players in the 2020 class.
