Tennessee 7-footer Uros Plavsic cleared by NCAA

Rick Barnes and the Tennessee Vols’ basketball team received big news on Tuesday. Uros Plavsic, a transfer from Arizona State, has been cleared to play by the NCAA, effective immediately.

Director of Athletics Phillip Fulmer said in a statement, “We appreciate the committee’s work as this process ran its course. We’re thrilled that Uros will receive his opportunity to compete and that he no longer stands to lose a year of his eligibility. Our compliance staff put a great deal of work and persistence into achieving this outcome. This is the right decision.”

The team celebrated together this afternoon as they learned of the news.

Plavsic enrolled at Tennessee in May, after redshirting the 2018-19 season at Arizona State. His waiver for immediate eligibility was originally denied by the NCAA, but he was cleared on November 25th to travel with the team on road trips.

The redshirt freshman was the No. 21 center in the 2018 class according to 247Sports.
