Vols in the NFL- Week 2

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – After a successful second week of NFL games, various former Tennessee football players excelled on their respective teams.

Rookie Jalin Hyatt recorded the first two catches of his NFL career and totaled 89 yards during the New York Giants’ comeback win over the Arizona Cardinals. Hyatt’s former teammate, Byron Young, kept things going for the Los Angeles Rams, posting five combined tackles, one solo tackle and a sack.

Cardinals quarterback Joshua Dobbs made his second start for the team and completed 21 of 31 passes while throwing for 228 yards and a touchdown. He also tallied his first career rushing touchdown with a 23-yard score in the second quarter.

A trio of former Vol defensive players put up impressive numbers this past weekend. On the Minnesota Vikings, Theo Jackson tallied four tackles, one pass deflection and nabbed his first career interception. For the Detroit Lions, Cameron Sutton recorded six solo tackles. Finally, New Orleans Saints cornerback Alontae Taylor notched four solo tackles, five combined tackles and a pass breakup in the team’s 20-17 victory over the Panthers.

On offense, Joshua Palmer registered three catches for 13 yards for the Los Angeles Chargers.

Executed 10 successful snaps for the Titans against the Chargers.

Joshua Dobbs – Cardinals – QB

Recorded his fourth-career start and his second with the Cardinals. Completed 21 of 31 passes for 228 yards with one passing score and added his first career rushing touchdown.

Princeton Fant – Cowboys -TE

On practice squad.

Hendon Hooker – Lions – QB

Did not play due to injury.

Jalin Hyatt – Giants – WR

The rookie tallied his first two catches of his career for 89 yards. Hyatt’s longest catch was 58 yards, helping the Giants to a victory over the Cardinals.

Theo Jackson – Vikings – DB

Made four tackles, added one pass deflection and his first career interception against the Eagles.

Jauan Jennings – 49ers – WR

Made two catches for 51 yards during the 49ers win over the Rams.

Alexander Johnson – Dolphins – LB

On practice squad.

Jakob Johnson – Raiders – FB

Played a total of eight offensive snaps and 10 snaps on special teams for the Raiders.

Velus Jones Jr. – Bears – WR

Saw action on 21 snaps for the Bears.

Alvin Kamara – Saints – RB

Did not play.

Cade Mays – Panthers – OL

Got his third career start at center and played 34 snaps against the Saints.

Emmanuel Moseley – Lions – CB

Did not see action in the Lions’ contest against the Seahawks.

Joshua Palmer – Chargers – WR

Tallied three catches for 13 yards for the Chargers against the Titans.

Cordarrelle Patterson – Falcons – RB

Did not see any action during week two win vs. the Packers.

Kyle Phillips – Saints – DE

On practice squad.

Jalen Reeves-Maybin – Lions – LB

Played 22 snaps on special teams, recording two tackles during the Lions’ victory over the Seahawks.

Trey Smith – Chiefs – OL

Started at right guard against the Jaguars and played 70 snaps.

Cameron Sutton – Lions – CB

Started and played 71 snaps at cornerback while adding six solo tackles for the Lions.

Alontae Taylor – Saints – CB

Was electric on defense, making four solo tackles, five combined tackles and a pass breakup for the Saints.

Darrell Taylor – Seahawks – DE

Started at linebacker and tallied three tackles in Seahawks victory against the Lions.

Cedric Tillman – Browns – WR

Did not see any action against the Steelers.

Shy Tuttle – Panthers – DL

Started at nose tackle and recorded one pass breakup for the Panthers.

Kendal Vickers – Bills – DE

On practice squad.

Darnell Wright – Bears – OL

Started at right tackle and played 72 snaps vs. the Buccaneers.

Byron Young – Rams – DE 

Played 52 snaps at defensive end while adding five combined tackles, one solo tackle and a sack for the Rams.
