Vols in the NFL – Week 3

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – As week three of NFL games came to a close, a handful of former Tennessee football players continued to excel on the field.

The week was highlighted by Arizona quarterback Joshua Dobbs earning his first NFL victory, leading the Cardinals to an upset victory over the previously unbeaten Dallas Cowboys. Dobbs completed 17 of 21 passes for 189 yards and a touchdown while also rushing for 55 yards to secure a 28-16 victory. The seventh-year pro has started all three games at quarterback for the Cardinals this season.

Other offensive standouts included Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Joshua Palmer, who scored his first touchdown of the year and made four catches for 66 yards during the Chargers victory against the Minnesota Vikings. San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings also had two catches for 31 yards in the team’s win over the Giants.

Tennessee had a couple of former defensive players shine this past weekend, as well.

New Orleans cornerback Alontae Taylor continued his impressive start to the year in Sunday’s contest at Green Bay. The second-year pro was everywhere for the Saints, finishing with five tackles, five pass break ups and his first-career sack.

Los Angeles Rams defensive end Byron Young had another solid week, finishing with five combined tackles (four solo) and half a sack. Cameron Sutton started at corner and made three tackles for the Lions in their win over the Falcons, while teammate Jalen Reeves-Maybin also had a pair of tackles in the game.
