Hurd/Kamara could be ideal one-two punch, Luginbill says

ESPN senior national recruiting analyst Tom Luginbill took a look at three of the top JUCOs in the country and compared them with a current college star. Here’s what he wrote about Tennessee commit Alvin Kamara:

RB Alvin Kamara — Duke Johnson, Miami: Kamara, originally a Class of 2013 signee, couldn’t find the right fit at Alabama and left a crowded backfield for the junior college ranks. Kamara, who is now committed to Tennessee, is talented and a great receiver out of the backfield. Like Johnson, he is sudden and smooth and just short enough to get lost behind the line of scrimmage for a split second and then burst through the hole. They are both multi-faceted backs with ball skills and have the ability to make an impact on the return game. Kamara could be the ideal one-two punch with Jalen Hurd for the Vols.

  1. I’m tellin’ ya’! Next year’s group is loaded. If the O-line’s anywhere up to snuff, then let’s figure on the SECe’s top spot having the Vols near the top at the end of November and early December of 2015. The OL’s the one element I’m crossing my fingers about. The boost from recruiting would be Richmond joining in the fray on NSD. More athleticism and better techniques overall is crucial, but RSs are going to kick up some instant depth…natural DTs needed desperately. The D-line will be outstanding with Barnett, Mac, King Tut, and the Butcher; even more so than the LB corps, which will be a little bit deeper than this year’s group and hopefully better at pass coverage. DBs will be deeper and more talented, but more coaching up and experience would be nice. Let’s figure on Dobbs making accuracy strides over the spring and summer, and Jennings and Dormady coming in with true NFL talent (but not a given). Peterman will be a reliable backup. TEs will be an asset, as will WRs. All CBJ’s assistants will look better with lots more to work with. Nobody’s leaving. It’s looking good, VFLs. Let’s be patient.
