Tennessee offered 2015 3-star Texas athlete Deandre McNeal on Tuesday, according to his Twitter. McNeal measures 6-foot-2 and weighs just over 225 pounds. As a junior rushed 64 for times for 406 yards and nine touchdowns while catching 40 passes for 582 yards and 11 touchdowns. Earlier this month he named TCU, Texas and Arizona State as his leaders. It’s also worth nothing that he is teammates with five-star linebacker Malik Jefferson who also holds a Tennessee offer.
On McNeal, ESPN wrote: “STRENGTHS: McNeal is a power back who runs over his pads with a finishing mentality. Gets downhill to hit the hole quickly to hit an inline cut. Has very good height and size at this stage. … AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT: Lacks elusiveness. Does not show the ability to move laterally and make a defender miss with great foot quickness. Does not show breakaway type speed. … BOTTOM LINE: McNeal may not end up as a quality every-down running back in college. If he continues to physically develop, he may outgrow the running back position though. A BCS level player most likely who could be an outside linebacker or safety at the next level.”
