Eli Wolf awarded scholarship as players cheer

Butch Jones interrupted the Circle of Life drill at practice on Tuesday to present tight end Eli Wolf with a scholarship to the University of Tennessee. The team cheered and chanted, “Eli, Eli, Eli,” in celebration.

Wolf is a redshirt sophomore, who appeared in six games last season for the Vols. He’s the brother of fellow tight end Ethan Wolf.

“It was a total surprise,” Wolf said after practice. “I was just worried about knocking my brother in the mouth. I didn’t know it was coming at all.”

“I’ve been happy here, it’s been fun. I enjoy my teammates a lot,” Wolf said. “I guess the validation is finally just the coaches saying, ‘hey, yeah, you are worth the scholarship.’”
