Former Tennessee Vol basketball star Jordan McRae, the 58th pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, looks to be heading to Australia.
McRae signed a one year deal on Friday with the National Basketball Leagues’s Melbourne United. Financial details have not been released, however.
McRae told the Knoxville News Sentinel that the Sixers still own his rights and can add him to the roster at any time, even after the season begins.
In what’s being called one of the biggest NBL signings in recent years, McRae was the top target of United coach Chris Anstey.
“When we saw him there, we weren’t quite sure how realistic it was that we would get him,” Anstey said. “When you go to the NBA Summer League and find someone who scores 22 a game and does it in all sorts of ways, it’s great.”
