The Vols baseball team is off to a disappointing start this season. They were ranked in the top ten early in the year but now find themselves 18-11 (2-6) and at the bottom of the SEC East.
It’s not been a pretty sight so far, watching the Vols lose 2 games to Mississippi State, drop 2 out of 3 to Kentucky and then drop 2 out of 3 to Arkansas. If that wasn’t bad enough, Tennessee has lost two games to ETSU.
Losing has not been a result of the lack of offense. The Vols have been exciting to watch and they lead the league in batting average at .314. Pitching has not been as impressive for Tennessee, ranking 7th in the SEC. The worst team statistic, however, is fielding where the Vols rank dead last.
With that said, this weekend is a big series with LSU. A traditional power, LSU is also off to a rocky start in the leage as well at 2-7. One of these teams could use this series as a springboard and that might as well be the Vols.
Many people will be in town for the Orange and White game so drop by and support our guys. Game times are Friday at 7pm, Saturday at 4pm, and Sunday at 12:30 pm. Bruce Pearl will sign autographs before the game on Friday and will throw out the first pitch. Students attending the game and sitting in the new left-field bleacher area will get a free hotdog before the game. I’ll see you there!
