Is the fab five Chris Webber, Juwan Howard, Jalen Rose, Ray Jackson and Jimmy King? Or is the fab five Duke Crews, Wayne Chism, Ramar Smith, Josh Tabb and Marques Johnson?
The addition of Ramar Smith to Tennessee’s basketball class could vault them into the top 5 in the nation. According to the Lexington Herald it’s not Florida or Kentucky that has done the most in recruiting this year, it’s Tennessee.
“They will make a push for the No. 3 spot behind North Carolina and Ohio State,” Jerry Meyer, national recruiting analyst for Rivals, said yesterday. “We are coming out with our final rankings for the 2006 class at the end of the week, and there is a good chance that Smith, Crews and Chism will end up low five-star players.”
Even better for Tennessee is that today Kentucky found out that their top target for this class, Tyler Smith, has dropped them down to no better than third on his list behind Pitt and Iowa.
Could anyone have imagined in their wildest dreams that Bruce Pearl could have accommplished what he has in his first year in the program? I think not.
