I heard this Fulmer interview on Sports Talk today and thought I would summarize Fulmer’s comments. Some were very interesting.
Quintin Hancock: He is definitely going to be in the mix. He still has some alignment and route issues but it’s excitiing to see a young guy doing so well.
Jerod Mayo: He will be fine and should be practicing by Monday. His injury looked a lot worse than it turned out to be.
Game preparation for California: Our guys are tired. They are tired of practice and tired of hitting each other. Our second team guys are too nice. These guys are only one injury away from playing. There was one play where the ball was caught by the tight end and the linebacker acted like he didn’t want to hit him. That’s not the way we are going to play football at Tennessee. Justin Harrell and Turk McBride have played well. We may have to play 13-14 guys on defense. We have done that before.
Ryan Karl: He is always around the ball. He’s smart and tough and knows how to slip blocks very well. He will get his tackles.
Offensive line: Sears and Ligon can play. Young has made good progress. Parker has done well. We have guys that will “fight you†and are fairly athletic.
Vladimir Richard: He is a really good prospect. That’s what he is right now, a prospect. He has done well after three weeks considering he’s not played on the offensive line before. We would be way ahead if we could have moved him in the Spring.
Depth of Offensive Line: We are not nearly where we need to be. Ramon Foster can play most positions. McClendon is not far away. Chris Scott has had a nice camp but is not quite strong enough yet.
Running Backs: It’s exciting to have Hardesty back and healthy. Arian has done a good job. LeMarcus didn’t look quite as sharp in scrimmage three but we are tired. It’s a good competition that would be nice to have at other positions.
Defensive Line: Turk McBride could move inside if we can get Ayres in there. Mapu got a lot of work. We are still trying to get him ready to play 20-30 plays.
