Tuesday Night Thoughts

Coaching Carousel:

-Iowa fans are happy that at least Bruce Pearl rejected them with class. Just another indication that everyone loves this guy.

-CatsPasue.com released a story last night that Billy Donovan to Kentucky was all but a done deal. They are now retracting that story. I think for obvious reasons. They reported the deal was $3.5 million per year for 7 years with a $3.5 million loyalty bonus if he stays all 7 years. I’ve said all along I think Donovan takes the job.

-Everyone’s favorite (cough) columnist (cough), Paul Finebaum is whining that the national media has taken it easy on Kentucky but is still blasting Alabama for firing Mike Shula. It’s comical that both of these programs are trying to buy their way out of mediocrity. I hope they both go bankrupt by overpaying coaches in an effort to bring back their glory days.

-Rumors are that Kevin Stallings could be a candidate for the Michigan job. A Vandy blogger thinks Stallings has 1.3 million reasons to stay in Nashville. He lists some intriguing coaching salaries that you should check out.

Passley update (the younger one):

–According to the IndyStar Cordell Passley has withdrawn his verbal commitment to Tennessee and is reconsidering his options. This comes after the news that his brother, Tony Passley, was dismissed from the Vols basketball team earlier this week.

Pre-season Football:

-Dennis Dodd released his pre-season football top 25 yesterday and Tennessee is ranked #14. Eight SEC teams made his top 25.
