Not much on the news front today as most eyes are focused on the National Championship Game tonight.
-Jonathan Heffney was named to the 2007 Lott Trophy Watch List. Today, 42 players were named as candidates to win the award which is given to college football’s Defensive Impact Player of the Year.
-Robert Meachem is scheduled to meet with the Rams on April 10th. He is also set to meet with the Vikings on April 11th, the Chargers on April 12th and the Chiefs on April the 17th. Of those four teams, the Vikings have the highest pick in the draft at #7. The Rams are next at #13 followed by the Chiefs at #23 and the Chargers at #30.
-Former Vols Todd Helton and Chris Burke were the only two former Tennessee baseball players to make an opening day roster. Helton remains with the Rockies where he has played for 11 seasons while Burke enters his third full season with the Astros.
-Arkansas introduced Dana Altman from Creighton as their new basketball coach today. Altman will replace Stan Heath who was fired after back to back NCAA Tournament appearances.
