I guess we should have planned for a wacky weekend after Game 1 of a three game series with Kentucky was postponed on Friday night due to snow on the field. The bad weather left us with a doubleheader on Saturday starting at noon.
Tennessee was leading the first game 9-2 heading in to the top of the 9th inning. That’s when it had to be postponed yet again. It turns out that Game 2 was set to be televised by FSN at 4:00. No inning of game 1 was allowed to start after 3:05.
The two teams had to get ready to start game 2, with the understanding that game 1 would be completed after game 2 ends. Of course, that assumes no further weather or media related issues arise.
The hot bats continued for the Vols in game 2 and Tennessee won 11-5. Cody Brown homered twice and Craig Cobb earned his sixth win. Since game 2 finished first, game 2 became game 1 and game 1 became game 2.
After game 1 (previously game 2) was over, the Vols added three runs in the top of the 9th inning of game 2 (previously game 1) and finished off the Cats 12-2. J.P. Arencibia led the team with thee hits and James Adkins got the win to improve to 4-4 on the season.
Got it? Make sense? If the game 1 and game 2 thing is a bit confusing, just remember that Tennessee leads the series 2-0 and will go for the sweep on Sunday at 1:00pm.
