Vols Taken in 2007 NFL Draft

Five Tennessee players were selected on Saturday and one more on Sunday, giving the Vols a total of six players in this year’s draft. It’s the most Tennessee players drafted since 2003. Justin Harrell was the highest player taken at pick 16 in the 1st round.

Is that good? Is that bad? It has been debated by some that it is a good thing. We always love to see our players do well and get a chance to play on the next level. Their success is our success.

Of course for others, it is another example of a program that underachieves with the talent on the field. Another indication of a coaching staff that may not be getting the job done.

Regardless, it’s the off season and in the last few years that is what Tennessee fans do in the in the off season – try to understand why we are not winning championships and who we are going to blame for it. I am not going to get into the debate because neither side ever wins. It’s just more fodder for the haters to harp on all summer and more signs that the blind will not be able to see.

A bit harsh? Probably, but “it is what it is” as they say.

Congratulations to Justin Harrell, Robert Meachem, Aaron Sears, Turk McBride, Jonathan Wade, and Marvin Mitchell. I wish them all the best of luck with their NFL careers.
