Guitar Shots To The Head – Lexvol’s Weekly Blog Awards

SEC media days have come and gone, UT’s media days are over and fall practice is in full swing. That means that the message boards are heating up. As a frequent poster, I thought it would be fun to hand out some of my “Guitar Shots To The Head” to topics and posters that deserve notice. This is not intended to offend, but keep in mind while your reading that I am your Huckleberry.

– For those debating the Foster, Hardesty and Coker situation, here is your blow. Since the three have been at UT, none of the three have all been healthy at one time. There are still rumors circulating about Coker’s attitude and Hardesty’s knee. I know this staff has a history of sitting backs that may be ready to play, but in all honesty I don’t see a Jamal Lewis or Reggie Cobb on this team right now. What is wrong with letting all three getting some meaningful PT and going with the hot hand? To take a line from the Bad News Bears, I say let them play!!!!!!!

– For those bashing Lucas Taylor for having a fumble problem and discounting his role in UT’s version of Houston Nutt’s now famous “Wildcat” offense, here is your shot to the head. Who threw the only touchdown pass against the vaunted Florida defense last year? In case you are stumped, or can’t get to the UT sports website it was…..you guessed it…Lucas Taylor. Now UT may have more talented options for the spot, but judging his abilities on a few special teams fumbles is a bit premature.

-For posters that are tired of the coach speak in the off season, stand still while I crack my guitar over your melon. It doesn’t matter what a coach has to say, whether it be Fulmer, Cut, Taylor, Brooks or Chavis. This is the off season, and I for one want to know everything that is coming off of their lips. After all, the next sentence can provide optimism, or more ammunition to use in a post about how terribly the coaches are performing. Just remember this, you don’t have to read the articles or visit the links to read or hear about it if you are not interested. O+W= Heaven should be commended for the fine services that he provides to daily posters.

-For posters wanting to blame the Penn State bowl loss on Arian Foster, here is your crash to the cranium. Sure, the fumble hurt badly, but not nearly as much as the overall game plan or our beloved Vol’s inability to slow down the mighty Penn State rushing attack. If Arian was playing linebacker on January 1, you might have an argument.

Well, that about wraps it up for this edition. The board has been fun lately due to the addition of several girlfriends of long time members, so before I conclude, I wanted to let Irish Angel and Laura know that Finevol and Tidwell (respectively) loves each one of you very much. Lady’s please note that football season is approaching fast, and the best gift that you can give your man on gameday is a fridge full of beer and a little peace and quiet.
