Vols Saturday scrimmage highly anticipated

It’s scrimmage time! Tomorrow will be the Vols first full scrimmage this fall. Approximately 100 plays and, of course, it will be closed to the public. Fulmer and company should get their first really good look at which newcomers are going to be able to contribute and which returners have worked the hardest during the off-season and are ready to step up their game.

-The defensive tackle position is still getting a lot of attention. Dan Brooks was asked his feelings on which guys were going to provide needed depth. “I don’t know who they are all are yet. Walter Fisher has made a move. He’s done some good things. Dan Williams has done some good things. We need a Chase Nelson, Victor Thomas, or Donald Langley.”

-It appears Ryan Karl, Elix Wilson and David Holbert will not scrimmage tomorrow. Fulmer indicated that Kenny O’Neal will play on Saturday.

Cody Pope may be switching sides. On Friday, he moved from the offensive side of the ball and got a look at defensive tackle.

-It’s a big year for Montario Hardesty to try and stay healthy and show us what he is capable of but, with the second team spot pretty much locked up, don’t expect to see too much of him tomorrow.

Be sure to stop by the Tennessee Vols Forum tomorrow to discuss the day’s events.

Basketball

Seven of the basketball vols scored double figures on Friday as Tennessee won it’s first game of the European tour on Friday night 113-64.

The scoring breakdown: Chris Lofton 20, Ryan Childress 16, Wayne Chism 13, Ramar Smith 13, Josh Tabb 13, Steven Pearl 12, JaJuan Smith 10, Duke Crews 7, Tanner Wild 6, Jordan Howell 3.

Tennessee will play again on Saturday at 11am EST against BK Kolin.
