So now it begins. The Gators and the Vols embark on another battle for supremacy in the SEC east. Too bad that Coach Fulmer’s arch nemesis may once again have a say, when it comes to the SEC Eastern Division Crown. South Carolina will be in the hunt for the east. Fans have very little idea what Florida will bring to the table other than athleticism, but we do know that UT is still soft in the middle, and by now might conclude that Mark Richt has taken the Dawgs as far as he can go. That is a point that I have continually made after their failure to sniff a championship in 2004.
So I am handing my first dose of reality to UT football fans. UT must beat Florida to have any shot at the east. If we do not beat Florida, we cannot count on Richt doing it later in the season. Given our known qualities in comparison with Florida, I would say that Saturday in Gainesville is going to be an uphill climb. In order to win, UT must rattle Tebow early in the game. That was something they could not do to Longshore, so I say that makes this game a longshot. However if the Vols can find some creative blitz schemes, and if the ends contain, maybe, just maybe this defense will get to Tebow early.
Besides getting to the opposing QB, UT must win the turnover battle, and somehow stretch the field against this young Florida defense. It is time to do away with the mantra that freshman get you beat in the SEC, and get the ball to some of these talented play makers in space. It is time to throw caution to the wind, and put the fastest athletes on the field.
Much like the Vols, the Volnation is becoming more and more stacked with rookie posters out to make a name for themselves. I read a post the other day that basically said that only the old members, or the members with money get any respect in the Nation. Well here is your crack to the cranium. This board is full of people with reasonable, opposing arguments. If you are going to bring your stuff to the table, you better bring A- game material. More importantly, if you are choose to argue with the patriarchs and the notables on this board don’t leave your self esteem at home. Just follow these simple rules, and you will find a home on our board.
1. Think before you post. Members on this board respect well thought arguments, but when you start an emotional thread, expect a beat down.
2. Always think two posts ahead. You don’t have to waste your entire argument in one post.
3. Don’t complain about getting your feelings hurt. This is an internet message board, full of knowledgeable UT fans. People are going to disagree, and they will happily give you the reasons why. If you cry, your time on the board will be very short lived.
Finally, I would like to share the love and offer a couple of quick shots for those that follow football on a national level. I say boo! To Kentucky and Louisville moving their game to the third week of the season. We don’t know any more about their teams than we did when the season ended last year.
I also offer a shot to those who cried “parity” when Michigan fell to Appy State. Michigan is just a bad football team. Look no further than LSU and USC to see that there are still VERY dominate football teams in the college football landscape. If Les Miles doesn’t get the national championship game this year, shame on him. If he does slip up, don’t worry a bit. Bob Stoops will be there to pick up the pieces, after the Sooners hand it to Mack Brown once again.
Until next week, keep posting Nationals.

dont worry bud, Erik Ainge is the senior of the team and with his new go to guys already est. he will have no trouble stretching this Florida Rookie D. But one thing is the same no matter what Heffney needs to step it up on D. He should have an easier time now that Florida Reciever Caldwell is out for the game.
Hey guys, I had contacted Vol Freak about swapping blog posts with us this week in anticipation of our match-up this Saturday. But I haven’t gotten a response to recent emails I sent him. We have written our contribution and are already teasing the feature. Please let us know if you guys are still interested.

florida can be passed and scored on, just worried about us stopping them. caldwell is just one of a bunch of fast receivers, namely harvin.
Guys… throughout the first 2 games this season, the coaches, & Ainge have not had the confidence that they are going to have to have in their young receivers in order to stretch the field. We are going to have to open it up EARLY on saturday to let the defense of the Gators know we have confidence, & we can stretch the field. If were not able to do that, then I dont care how well our running back tandem is, were not going to be able to establish ANY type of running game. Thats the key to the game.
we go thru this every year. football is blocking and tackling. it is that basic.those who do these two things, win.
i have watched both of fla. games and they did not come out of their 2 deep zone. this is because they are young. the 10 to 12 yard play will be there. they will run some zone blitzes. ainge had better make sure his blind side is covered.
we have to get to tebow before he gets a running start. if he does, he becomes more difficult to tackle. they dont call him the tank for nothing. noone has pressured him yet. we must make him react under pressure.
