Bruce Pearl continues to get the job done. Today, West Hollywood, California prospect Renaldo Woolridge announced that he would wear Tennessee orange in 2008.
Pearl and company have really opened up Tennessee basketball recruiting on a national scale. Convincing a top prospect like Woolridge to bypass his home school (USC) and travel across the country to come to Knoxville is quite impressive. Tony Jones was the lead recruiter and has played a big role in several key Tennessee recruits in his short tenure here.
From what I gathered in his interview this afternoon, Woolridge noted that Bruce Pearl’s system and the family atmosphere he experienced while visiting Knoxville were two big factors in his final decision.
Listed at 6-foot-8 205 lbs, Rivals ranks Woolridge 4-stars and lists him as the 59th best player in the 2008 class and the 10th best small forward. His father, Orlando Woolridge, played 13 seasons in the NBA.

What a job Pearl is doing here at Tenn. I can not wait for this season to start but also the next few to come. We will be at the top this year and hopefully from here on out.

I’m a big ND fan and watched his dad play for the IRISH. He was a great player. If this kid is half as good as his dad you’re got a good one.
Renaldo father and I are first cousins. His dad was an intelligent and skilled basketball player before he played at ND and the NBA. We use to go heads up all day long at AlSaint’s High School were his father was a teacher. We had some one on one wars in the gym and backyard. I last saw Renaldo in 1993 when his father played for the Bucks. My family had dinner at their home. If Renaldo displays the Woolridge’s blood that runs through his veins, the Vols shall win a National Championship, in my opinion. Go get them Cousin.
