Monday Tennessee Vols Recruiting Update

The recruiting rumors are flying fast and furious. Here’s the latest:

Quinton Washington (4-star OG) and Alshon Jeffrey (4-star WR) are generating some buzz on the boards. Washington received a visit from Tennessee coaches last week while Jeffrey appears to be set to visit Tennessee in January.

Kiffin visited with North Atlanta quarterback Jamal Londry-Jackson (2-star QB). Apparently, Kiffin didn’t feel that Londry-Jackson was a good fit with Tennessee’s pro-style offense.

There is lots of speculation about who else Tennessee may have visited while in Florida talking with Jarvis Giles. There are some rumblings of visits with Orson Charles (4-star ATH) and Aaron Murray (4-star QB and Georgia commit). Other reports from local talk radio over the weekend had the Vols visiting Armwood High School prospects Ryne Giddins (4-star DE) and Petey Smith (3-star ILB).

Jerod Askew (commit) and Morgan Moses (5-star OT) will play in the inaugural Hawaii Prep Football Classic.

Marlon Brown (4-star WR) had visits from Ohio State and Ole Miss at his school on Friday.

Brandon Moore (4-star OT) has removed Tennessee and Auburn from consideration due to coaching changes.

Je’Ron Stokes (commit) had to ($) postpone his visit to Michigan.

D.J. Hunter (commit) ($) visited West Virginia over the weekend.

Demontre Hurst (3-star CB) still has his eye on Tennessee but names Miami his slight leader.

Jarvis Giles (4-star RB) has gotten a lot of attention as of late (31,000+ views in his forum thread). Stay tuned for his announcement on Tuesday between Tennessee and South Carolina. My money is on Tennessee.

Edwin Herbert (commit) is currently ($) visiting Arkansas and is also showing interest in NC State.

David Oku (commit) had 132 yards on 28 carries in his teams state championship game loss.

Eric Gordon (4-star CB) helped Hillsboro win a state title by defeating favorite Maryville 10-7. Kiffin ($) visited with Gordon in his home later that night. Gordon indicated he would like to visit Tennessee in the near future.

It appears that Tennessee will get a visit from Sam Montgomery (4-star DE).

Lastly, be sure to check out the early 2010 watch list. It’s never too early.
