Tennessee’s football program is putting together the final pieces of its 2010 recruiting class. Coach Dooley and his staff have garnered good momentum for a strong finish. While this class is at present the priority, there are still several coaching vacancies.
One vacancy of major importance is the Defensive Coordinator position. There has been much speculation over the past 10 days as to who will become the Vols next DC. Kevin Steele, a former Vol player (LB) and coach at one point reportedly accepted, then turned the opportunity down.
Four days before NSD and he is again rumored to be headed to Knoxville. Coach Steele would make a great fit and certainly be a hire that the Vol Nation can be pleased with.
Below is his breakdown along with a darkhorse candidate, Sal Sunseri of Alabama. Sunseri’s connection with Vol Head Coach Dooley is via Nick Saban.
UPDATE: KTVB in Boise is reporting a source at Boise State saying that Wilcox will likely become Tennessee’s new Defensive Coordinator.
Has Tennessee revisited their attempt to bring in former Vol Kevin Steelel? Has a deal already been struck waithing for the NSD to pass? Or are the defensive reigns about to be handed to Wilcox? We will know soon enough (not soon enough for Vol fans) as the next few days promise to be fast and furious.
