Tobias Harris talks Tennessee

On Thursday, Tobias Harris was named to the 2010 McDonald’s All-American team. Mike Griffith and Mike Strange caught up with Tobias on the Sports Animal and here are a few loosely quoted comments from that conversation.

On Tennessee losing…

I get a little upset when they lose but they just have to get better each game and refocus and keep coming out and playing hard each game.

On his rivlary with Jayvaughn Pinkston…

There is a rivalry because we are the two top players in New York. The game that we played I was just out there trying to win and do everything to help my team win. For him I guess it was just the matchup – who wins the matchup between me and him. I don’t know what that is, but my team is 16-0 and we are just looking to keep rolling and keep winning.

On Tennessee player Jeronne Maymon

I first knew him from the Marquette Elite Camp. Then we played together in a tournament in New York and we’ve been friends since then. When he was at Marquette we always used to talk and stuff. When he was leaving, I told him about Tennessee. I told the coaches here and we just got him after that.

On the two guards that are coming in with his class…

Trae Golden, the point guard that we have, he can really score the ball. He is a great player. He gets other teammates involved. He’s having a great high school season right now.

Jordan McRae is a shooting guard — a two or three. He’s like 6-7 he can really jump and leap. He’s really athletic and can shoot the ball real well also.
