Kentucky game dominates headlines

With less than twenty-four hours until Tennessee plays Kentucky in Lexington, discussion and analysis of tonight’s game is dominating the headlines.

  • Mike Strange says that the Pearl vs Calipai rivalry has now become bigger than ever. No longer are these two competing for a mythical state championship. Now it’s the SEC title on the line. • Bernard King hates to lose to Kentucky and he let Tennessee players know it after practice on Thursday night. “We don’t lose to Kentucky,” King said. “You hear me? We’re not losing to Kentucky. I’m going to be there with you, and we’re going to get it done.” [AOL Fanhouse]
  • Wayne Chism suffered an ankle injury in Tennessee’s 90-71 loss at Vanderbilt on Tuesday night. According to Bruce Pearl, Chism remains a game-time decision. [GVX]
  • Clay Travis predicts the final SEC standings. He ranks Tennessee third behind Kentucky and Vanderbilt. Does he think Tennessee has a shot tonight against Kentucky? “That ain’t happening,” wrote Travis. [AOL Fanhouse]
  • Rumors surfaced on Friday that John Calipari has been linked to the Nets coaching job. Could this be the distraction Tennessee needs to steal a win tonight? Not likely. But if the unthinkable does happen, I’m sure Kentucky fans will blame Pearl for leaking the story. [NYDailyNews].
  • Elsewhere around the interwebs from behind enemy lines: Ryan Clark revisits his favorite Tennessee jokes, Hoopsbetting.com (citing Kentucky’s 16-0 home record) gives the points and picks the Cats, Wildcatblueblog predicts a 15-point Wildcat victory, and KentuckySportsRadio (who apparently couldn’t come up with anything original) reposted their Letter to the Vols.

The game tips off at 9:00 pm. Don’t forget to head to the Vols Basketball Forum during the game to participate in our live game thread.
