ESPN.com college football analyst Mark Schlabach, who is 5-1 this season with his weekly selections, is picking Tennessee this week.
“I’m going with Tennessee to upset Mississippi State on the road in Starkville, Mississippi. I just think the Volunteers are a lot better than people are giving them credit for. Offensively, quarterback Tyler Bray has two really nice weapons in Justin Hunter and Cordarrelle Patterson. Can’t wait to see that matchup against Bulldog’s cornerback Johnthan Banks.”
“I think Derek Dooley gets a big win on the road—first over a ranked opponent as Tennessee’s coach—and I think the Volunteers get a much needed signature victory.”
Last week Schlabach correctly predicted that Florida would defeat LSU.
Tennessee and Mississippi State kick off in Starkville at 9:00 p.m. on Saturday night (ESPN2).
