Today the university released the official depth chart for the upcoming game against the Florida Gators on Saturday.

On offense, Pig Howard is listed as the starter at slot receiver and Johnathan Johnson is slated as the backup. Both were injured last week. Jason Croom and Josh Smith are listed as co-starters at reciever, with Marquez North starting on the other side.

Justin Worley is still listed as the starting quarterback, but in his Monday press conference Butch Jones said whichever quarterback has the best week of practice will play, including the freshmen. With his comment, Butch basically opened the door for Josh Dobbs or Riley Ferguson to see action in the near future.

Whatever quarterback has the best week of practice is going to be the starter for Tennessee when we play Florida. If that means a freshman quarterback, that means a freshman quarterback. We’ll have more quarterback run in to our package this week. We just need to find ways to generate big explosive plays and if that’s Josh Dobbs running the read option or Riley Ferguson, that’s what we’ll do to create big plays. That’s going to be our focus and preparation this week.”

On defense, it’s Smith, McCullers, Hood and Miller on the defensive line. With Trevarris Saulsberry out 3-6 weeks, expect to see a lot of freshman Jason Carr, according to Jones.

Curt Maggitt and Corey Vereen have been injured but are expected to be available against the Gators. Maggitt is the backup weakside linebacker, behind Dontavis Sapp.
