Since there were no perfect entries, it appears I was successful in selecting the games for last week’s pick contest. In fact, no one even picked nine games correctly. The top entries (18 of you) managed just eight wins.
The good news is, now I won’t have to throw in any directional school matchups this week, just to try to throw you guys off.
So what went wrong?
Stanford was the most-selected team last week, and they lost at Utah, 27-21 in a game which put a damper on their national title chances. Only one entry correctly picked Utah in that game.
The Southeastern Conference matchups weren’t the problem. Most had LSU, who defeated Florida by a score of 17-6, and Texas A&M, who escaped with a 41-38 win against Ole Miss.
But the Michigan game was trouble. Penn State came back to tie the score late in the fourth quarter, and went on to outlast the Wolverines by a score of 43-40 in four overtimes, handing the majority of you another loss in the process.
This week’s games have been posted here. As always, the entry deadline is noon (eastern) on Saturday.
And yes, I included the Tennessee vs. South Carolina game, which I know is a moral dilemma for some of you, but those are the games which separate the men from the boys.
Good luck!
