Stokes finishes his college career as Tennessee’s all-time record holder for offensive rebounds (337). He set the single-season records this year for rebounds (392), offensive rebounds (155), offensive rebounds per game (4.19).
His 22 double-doubles this season tied Bernard King’s single season record (1976-77). Stokes also tied the single season records for games started (37) and games played (37).
Stokes ranked 4th all-time at Tennessee for double-doubles (40), 41st in scoring (1,129), and eighth in rebounding (836).
Stokes led Tennessee to a Sweet 16 appearance this past season, while averaging 15.1 points and 10.6 rebounds per game. He earned First Team All-SEC honors.
For his career, the 6-foot-8 junior averaged 13 points and 9.6 rebounds per game.
The NBA Draft deadline isn’t until April 29th, but Stokes would have had to inform Tennessee of his intent to return by April 15th.
Draft Express projects Stokes as the 53rd player taken in its 2014 mock draft.
With Jeronne Maymon graduating and Stokes heading to the league, the Vols are losing both halves of their 1-2 punch inside with no definitive help on the current roster.
Cuonzo Martin may look to Tennessee State transfer MJ Rhett, who has been discussed in the basketball forum for a few weeks now. Like Stokes, at 6-foot-9 235 pounds, Rhett is a rebounding machine and could be a nice fit. He would be eligible to come in and play right away just as Antonio Barton did this season.
On April 1st it was reported that Tennessee would get one of Rhett’s five official visits.
