Newly-minted basketball coach Donnie Tyndall certainly has his work cut out for him next season.
Rising sophomores Darius Thompson and AJ Davis officially asked for their releases from UT on Monday. Fellow sophomore Robert Hubbs released this statement regarding his intentions, via KNS beat writer Ben Frederickson’s twitter:
Robert Hubbs: “As of right now I’m still a Tennessee Vol.” Says he is currently weighing options with family. No timetable for decision.

Provided Hubbs leaves too, seniors Josh Richardson, D’Montre Edwards, Rawane Ndiaye and juniors Armani Moore and Derek Reese will be the only returning scholarship players from last season’s squad that made the Sweet 16. That would mean 73 percent of Tennessee’s minutes played last year are gone, a pretty staggering number.
We’ll keep an eye on Hubbs’ situation an update when we know more.
