unnamed (33)

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Volunteers are ranked #22 in the final Associated Press Poll of the season. Riding a six-game winning streak to close the season, capped by a 45-6 win over Northwestern in Outback Bowl, the Vols (9-4) are ranked at the end of the season for the first time since 2007, when the Vols finished 12th

With the ranking of 22nd, the Vols have their highest ranking in an AP Poll since the 2008 Preseason Poll, which had Tennessee at #18. Earlier in the 2015 season, the Vols were ranked #23 during the Sept. 8 week and #25 in the preseason poll.

Tennessee’s nine wins are the most since that 2007 season, when UT finished 10-4. The six-game win streak is the longest by the Vols since winning the last six regular-season games of the 2003 season. Tennessee has won back-to-back bowl games for the first time since the 1995 and 1996 seasons.
