On Vol Calls Monday night, Butch Jones revealed that a “special announcement” will be made during the Orange and White Game on Saturday.
“We’re going to a make a special announcement at the game. It’s something that we not done before and you’ll be able to hear from our players regarding this special announcement as well.”
That doesn’t really give much of a clue as to what this announcement might be, but let us know your thoughts and guesses in this thread: Announcement during the Orange and White Game?
CAM SUTTON GREAT PLAYER, GREAT NOTE TAKER
Many players become too “casual” about spring football, according to Butch Jones. But not Cam Sutton. He approaches every practice like game day and that’s why he continues to grow and develop, Butch said. He can play an position in the back end of our defense and is a great mentor for younger guys like Marquill Osborne, who is an early enrollee.
According to Jones, all great players take notes and are very diligent because knowledge is power.
“All great players have one thing in common and that’s a notebook. They take great notes, they are very diligent in their note taking because knowledge is power. I grabbed Cam Sutton’s — we had all of our players to turn in their notebooks the other day to check and see what kind of notes they are taking. And I tell you what, it’s probably the best notes I’ve ever seen a player take and it was a great illustration for our younger players as ‘Hey, there is a reason why Cam Sutton is a great football player.’”
BOULWARE MAKING THE MOST OF OPPORTUNITIES
With the injuries on the offensive line this spring, guys like Venzell Boulware have had the opportunity for increased reps, and are making the most of it.
“Venzell Boulware comes to mind, he took every rep Saturday with ones and twos, so he had to double the reps of everyone else. At then, the end of practice we ran as an offensive line unit and we told him he did not have to run because of the enormous amount of reps that he had. And he said, ‘Coach, I want to run.’ That’s just kind of his mentality and he’s just continued to get better.”
