2024 Transfer Portal Thread

Not worth asking, Trippie and Mookie have some of the worst takes and have no clue about other teams outside of our own squad…and then get mad when you have a differing opinion from group think or whatever Twitter is showing them it’s comical but good luck in your quest
Who provide the good takes?

@Freak
Can you come in and clean up this mess ... I had to wade through page after page of bickering and arguing ... in order to read 6 posts of worthwhile value.
No kidding. I saw 6 new pages and thought there was some news, instead it was Middle School fight club over Bama being the best team in the SEC or not next season.

We need a thread like the Irritational Barnes takes thread where all the off topic arguing lands.

Your context is as baffling as your grammar, I have one guy calling me a bama troll for saying this bama team is no better than last year and another poster questioning my board ethics all in one thread…this has been enlightening but hilarious all in one!
Now taking a shot at his grammar, again trying to show how intellectually superior you are. Since you brought it up, though, we can discuss your own sentence structure and apparent disdain for commas.

Message board. I don’t take the time and care about how my post are structured.

Appreciate the backup though lol

All this Bama talk has me thinking…

I think Barnes style of play matches up really well against Nate Oats.

Our physicality on defense really seemed to bother their guards and forced them to take bad shots.

Will Bama be good next year? Most likely so.

However, I think we’ll have the same game plan to rough them up again.

Also, Oats is still a punk.
I think we go back to only playing them once and it’ll be in Tuscaloosa.

How many pages back until I read a tidbit on Lanier?
Tennessee’s success in 2024-25 will depend on:

1) Landing Lanier.
2) the development of Estrella, Carr, and further development of Mashack on offense .

But one thing I think is overlooked….ZZ can get better/more consistent. He was rehabbing his knee all last offseason and really didn’t have a chance to work on his game. He has that opportunity now. And his knee will be stronger in his 2nd year back. Hopefully that means he can avoid those poor shooting nights like he had against Purdue.

A couple of other things I wonder about:

1) Will Barnes try to fix the hitch in Dubar’s shot to make it quicker? Or do you just leave it alone?
2) Will Barnes try to adjust Lanier’s shot so his release is higher? Or do you leave that alone?

Agree on Lanier. Not just for his scoring, but someone mentioned he could run the point in a pinch if necessary. Since we apparently aren't in the mix for Anderson Jr, gotta get Lanier to help out with spelling ZZ at times as well as a longer term backup if something happens to ZZ again. Want no part of starting Gainey or Mashack at the point longer term. One thing I wondered about Tyson was where he'd play? Would he have taken minutes from Carr? I saw Igor as a stretch 4 and Dubar as a JJJ replacement. If we'd have gotten Tyson would Carr have been tempted to hit the portal?

On the subject of tinkering with shots, if it's working, I'm not sure I'd tinker with it. Yeah, I know that's what it means to "coach", but I see it kinda like a golf swing. Different doesn't mean wrong just different. Are coaches trying to change "different" swings of guys like Trevino, Furyk, or Wolf?? Wonder how many guys tried to get Rick Barry to switch back to a conventional shot at the free throw line after he had success with his 2 hand under shot? I think the only way you try to change them is if they go into a funk, but how long will something like that take to become second nature? They start "thinking" instead of just letting it fly and it's going to be a problem more often than not. Look at what happened with Vescovi when his mind went haywire this year. I say leave them both alone and enjoy the short time we get to see them play. Having said that, I'm usually wrong and no one is paying me to coach anything.
