Jason Witten collegiate coaching

Just think of the tight ends we could get under him? Receivers perhaps though. Whooowheee! đź’Ą

Couldn't hurt, but the strange part of it is that outside TN, most of these 15-17 year old probably know little about him already.
He could def teach the intricacies of the TE position. And a top notch person. Buuut, that doesn't mean he can recruit and really have a dedication and passion to coach teens up. Some do. Some don't.

He is very well known, loved, and respected in TX and the DFW area especially. He was arguably the most popular Dallas Cowboy for a long time. His name and brand are larger than you give him credit for. Id actually wager that Witten is more recognizable to HS kids in TX than TN these days.

Probably so. Seems the majority of higher rated Tennesse recruits don't really pay attention to UT anyway

They probably know Witten from the Cowboys but don't recognize Whitten since the OP VOL fan doesn't know it's spelled, Witten.

Could they "test the waters" with a Grad Assistant type roll? That is, if he were willing.

Might not be a bad idea to make him a GA first, and let him work that way, or give him an analyst position. I'm hoping this staff will stay intact as they are.

This. One thing Saban and now Kirby has done is taken a lot of coaches and given them analyst or assistant roles. For me, it would be no brainer for Heupel to atleast have a sit down with J Wit and even Coach Cut to see if they have any interest in analyst or coaching roles... I'd love to have Cut on staff in a non recruiting, coaching role for QB's.
