Read an article this morning about a Flat Earth believer who has built his own homemade rocket and attends to launch himself in it this Saturday, to prove the Earth is ... you know ... flat. He plans to get a mile up. About one-seventh as high as commercial airliners. That oughta show them.

...

So you guys who believe this load of bull about Butch and Purdue remind me of him.

Jones did his best, it wasn't nearly good enough, and now he's gone. Get over it.

No. We need to castigate the people who spent the past year as Butch apologists for a few more months, or at least until Gruden is announced.

He tried to get another job last year. Obviously he wanted out. He got his buyout and the program is a disaster.

I started a thread similar to this a couple of months ago and was basically called a conspiracy theorist.

  :tease2: :hmm:   :pilot: :boredom:  :focus: :pinch:

I think you meant until Gruden is announcing. Well that will be next Monday of course. Other than that there will be no announcing of Jon Gruden, especially as head coach of Tennessee, and on this day that is something we can truly be thankful for.

No, Butch didn't tank on the team. I believe, as many posters have stated before, that Butch is just too stubborn for his own good. He refused to make any changes to his game plans. Opposing coaches knew exactly what to plan for - every game... BOTH HALVES!!! You see, with his stubbornness, his game plan was so perfect, he didn't need to make any sort of adjustments during the game, or at halftime, whatsoever... we just keep running up the gut on 1st down; sweep right on 2nd and long; throw an incomplete pass toward the left sideline (short of the 1st down, of course) on 3rd and long; then after a couple of STUPID penalties, punt on 4th and long. Every now and then, the game plan would get busted, and the QB would run for his life, throw the ball downfield, and to the amazement of everyone... there would be an amazing 1st down completion!!! But we all know that was the exception, not the rule.

So, NO, Butch didn't tank, He just can't coach above the American, MAC, low-end Mt West, or Sun Belt level, but certainly not on the SEC level. I wish him the best, unless the rumors are true about him lying to players and abusing them... then "what goes around comes around..."

Lol. It would be much cheaper to go to his local airport and pay some dude in a Cessna or Piper Cub to take him up to 5500. That said, he’d need to rent a ride in the U-2 or SR-71 to get a look at the curvature.

No joke, right?

Dude said he doesn't believe in science. Said he understands fluid dynamics, aerodynamics, and such, but that's just formulas, not science. Science is just science fiction, says he.

Dude has tried flying in a rocket before...got a quarter mile (one quarter the distance he's shooting for this time), and busted himself up pretty good.

He may be a dead man talking, at this point. Liftoff in about 40 hours.

Y'all are too hard on Jones. He never wanted to suck he just did. Saban is cut from the same stubborn ass, micromanaging cloth. It's just Saban has a keen football mind and Butch has a trash can.

Butch Jones wanted a taco and realized he could not get a good one east of the Mississippi. He will be the next head coach at Texas Tech. Ironically, they dont make good tacos in West Texas.

the plan is so simple, it's brilliant. The 9 million dollar taco.

Pathetic post. Coach Jones did the best he could do. He made significant improvements in many areas. Tell us the significant, positive impact you’ve had at your job or in society. Do you have a job? How old are you? Do you still watch cartoons? Bologna....

He tried to get another job last year. Obviously he wanted out. He got his buyout and the program is a disaster.

He eventually learned he was in over his head.
Nothing he could think of worked.
He became frustrated with all the attention directed at him.
His frustration bled over into the players' minds.
The players started doubting his football savy.
The players started doubting his character.
His assistants started doubting his character.

Things sank to a level CBJ wasn't having fun anymore.
He lost his focus on the team and what he is supposed to do.

The arena he entered was nothing like what he was used to.
His tried to employ MAC level concepts into the SEC.
His stubbornness told him it would work, when it didn't.

It's hard to be successful up to a point where you are not successful any more and some don't handle it very well.
