I was there tooNo. It isn't the adopted fight song. What hurts Tennessee is the decade of failure followed by a really passionate fan base who wants to win and do it now. Nothing wrong with wanting to win of course... It's the Mustard bottles and Schiano stunts that give us the bad reputation according to media. They push that agenda, what is done is done and we need to own that we have our University as fans and alumni alike. This is our state the Vols are what we know and love. This is the Volunteer state after all. Just my two cents and let me add the mustard bottles were a true embarrassment as I was there. However it didn't help us moving forward. Hopefully that never happens again and officiating gets better as a whole around the league. I say this it's Tennessee against the world... Go Cols F*** em all
Following are the lyrics to the #1 fight song in the land.Does the minority athlete hold the country song we are so aligned with against us ? Does the song hold or give racist overtones?
All clear cap'n. Only the 'snowflakes ' get something out of there that Ain't there. Former supervisor had a child down at aubie school. One day he said something like bless your lil peapickin' heart. Boom! Dad you can't say that! Makes people think of slavery. Ftr slaves and owners coworked many of these fields. Point being school was indoctrinating these students to assume intended meaning. Word policing if you will. I've been accused of that before on this site. Trying to be more thoughtful. Anyway Rocky Top Ain't got no nothing to turn youngins against Big Orange Country.Following are the lyrics to the #1 fight song in the land.
Perhaps you could enlighten us by pointing out where exactly are the racist overtones??!!
Wish that I was on ol' Rocky Top
Down in the Tennessee hills
Ain't no smoggy smoke on Rocky Top
Ain't no telephone bills
Once I had a girl on Rocky Top
Half bear, other half cat
Wild as a mink, but sweet as soda pop
I still dream about that
Rocky Top, you'll always be
Home sweet home to me
Good ol' Rocky Top
Rocky Top, Tennessee
Rocky Top, Tennessee
Once two strangers climbed ol' Rocky Top
Lookin' for a moonshine still
Strangers ain't come down from Rocky Top
Reckon they never will
Corn won't grow at all on Rocky Top
Dirt's too rocky by far
That's why all the folks on Rocky Top
Get their corn from a jar
Rocky Top, you'll always be
Home sweet home to me
Good ol' Rocky Top
Rocky Top, Tennessee
Rocky Top, Tennessee
I've had years of cramped-up city life
Trapped like a duck in a pen
All I know is it's a pity life
Can't be simple again
Rocky Top, you'll always be
Home sweet home to me
Good ol' Rocky Top
Rocky Top, Tennessee
Maybe it's the subliminal banjo.Following are the lyrics to the #1 fight song in the land.
