The attrition plays a big part. But Dooley recruited ok his first year (Stone, Fulton, James - all in the league), his second year gave us Tiny. It was the slow (for some) realization that Dooley was not anywhere near the coach/leader we needed that led to the disastrous 2012 class of zero lineman and virtually no elite talent (apologies to Randolph).

The expectations for Jones will be there this season. All Dooley guys are gone. Jones' guys are upperclassmen. The team is deep and experienced. No excuse not to be a great football team.

There were far too many vols, in love with Dooley, drooled over his every word etc., Why? Because he was our head coach, this made them lose their ability to reason. Their man crushes cost us. Some fans (a small number) admit they gave Dooley far too much rope, just because he was our head coach. I hope that as the years go by, we learn from our past. Tennessee should be in the top 10 Every Year, all year. Failing to beat Bama, and FL has become the normal-it must stop-this year.
