Is there any way to watch ESPN without a cable service?

We really don't want any form of cable anymore. We have Hulu live, but we really don't even want that, we just want the ESPN channels.

Is it pretty much the case that we HAVE to have some kind of cable service to watch the mainstream ESPN stuff?

You either have to live close enough to splice in to your neighbor's cable and risk getting caught, become good friends with a neighbor so you can watch the games, or just pay for the ESPN app subscription.

Yeah but the ESPN app doesn't do anything except show the stuff NOT shown on ESPN unless you have a cable service to log in with. At least that's my understanding.

Disney’s OTT service isn’t bringing in the revenue/profits that Disney wants. It hasn’t met projections for subscriber growth. They bet big on Lucasfilms and Marvel and need a higher critical mass of subscribers to be profitable. There’s no way Disney forgoes the revenue stream from cable and OTT aggregators for ESPN live sports programming. Only when Disney reaches their OTT service subscriber/revenue/profit targets will they consider making ESPN live sports available as a component of their OTT offerings.

We used this combo for several years and were very happy with it.

The only problem was the occasional delay/freeze on live sports on heavily-watched games. That might be better now, I dunno.

Dang, that's went up. Several years ago when I did sling it was $20 for 20 channels, and $5 added all the sports channels.

I use Apollo TV on a fire stick but it’s not popular. Never mentioned in all the threads we have on this subject. It’s cheap. Really cheap per household.

Lucasfilm and Marvel are one of the few things in the green. Granted they've saturated the market with too much content. The issue with D+ is expense to original content equation. The demand is there.

The rest of the landscape, such as overpaying for ACC & SEC content (which has massive overhead), has resulted in significant losses.

Hulu is one giant cluster ****.
