Mizzou

Mizzou defense is pretty good, but we are going to spread them out like yoga instructor porn star and exploit them repeatedly.

On defense, we need to bracket Luther Burden and terrorize QB Cook.

Hopefully their OL gets called for an occasional holding penalty to keep them somewhat honest. That might be a big ask with the treatment we have received from the refs this year.
Our opponents simply don’t get called for holding against us.

Losing to Mizzou is a bad look. Josh can’t afford it after losing to UF. He could have survived the loss if he had beaten UF.
Dumb post of the year nomination right here!
Do you even watch football?
Let me catch you up so you don’t look like an idiot and post something else stupid!

Mizzou is 7-2 only losing to UGA and LSU,
Ranked 16th
Will be favored in the Game
Are a good team!

Why is everyone so very high on them? They’ve overachieved for sure but they’ve played a lot of close games and seem to give up a decent amount of points except to USCjr. They played UGA tough last year and we drummed the hell out of them, if Milton continues to play like he has lately I don’t see why we can’t do to them what we did last year.

I haven’t watched any of their games so I’m just going on history and their record.

Lots of teams have played close games that are ranked. Regardless, they were 7-1 until last night, and still hold the same record we do with a quality win over KSU who almost beat TX last night on the road and could have had the coach not decided not to kick a FG to tie the game and instead went for it on 4th and goal from the 4. KSU was labeled overrated after that loss, only to be playing to maintain 1st in the BIG12 in that game.

Their lone loss to LSU is where people began giving them clout. If you really want to see how good Missouri can be, go back and watch that game. It was back and forth until the very end and one of those games that doesn’t show how close it was.

They were also dead even with Georgia on the road for much of that game.

They beat Kentucky much worse than we did. They beat USCjr by one more point than we did.

They have a really good running back and quarter back. The game is away. We are not the team the drummed them last year.

There is plenty to be concerned about. I believe in Heupel goes into Missouri and wins with this team, it will be his 3rd best win of his Tennessee career. Bama, LSU and this one. While Florida is a game we want, we let those guys back into a game that we should have destroyed them in. I just can’t put that game over this one if we win.

My word choice might have been poor. He will not get fired or even get his seat warmed up but he can’t lose to mizzou after losing to UF.
Yes definitely bad word choice, and then you admit it but continue to repeat the same thing.

He lost to UF and yes he can lose to Mizzou, it’s a real possibility.

Hopefully the team will play good for 4 quarters and he won’t, but if he does , he does .

We will dial up a lot of blitz. The game plan will be the opposite of Kentucky. Make them one dimensional on the ground.
The stats would tend one to think this way. These are the numbers through yesterdays games. Keep and mind to date the Vols have played the 14th ranked toughest schedule and Missouri the 15th, so the numbers should match up fairly well.

Rushing Offense Vols ranked 3rd at 228 yards per game
Rushing Defense Missouri at 24th giving up 114 yards per game
Rushing Offense Missouri at 76th at 149 yards per game
Rushing Defense Vols ranked 13th giving up 93 yards per game
We have ran the ball well on some really good defenses. They don't run the ball well even on poor competition. So this should be a big plus for us.

Passing Offense Vols ranked 58th at 239 yards per game
Passing Defense Missouri at 64th giving up 239 yards per game
Passing Offense Missouri at 58th at 239 yards per game
Passing Defense Vols ranked 53rd giving up 222 yards per game
Our passing offense looks to be improving but with loss of Hadden our DBs are not as good. Both teams should throw for more than their average, slight edge to Missouri

I think Banks' defense this week will look a lot like we played at A&M where we laid our ears back and rushed the QB and dared them to run it.

Vols in a close one 34-30

It’s weird to me why so many people on this board are unwilling to just admit that Missouri might actually be good. They gave Georgia a hell of a game yesterday. Too much overconfidence on this board and people have been saying Mizzou is “fool’s gold” for weeks but it’s never materialized.

That game is going to be brutal. We’re not a good road team and Mizzou is going to abuse our secondary. As long as we hold them to 3 instead of 7, we can win. But this is going to be a really tough game and losing to Mizzou isn’t “inexcusable” this year like some in this thread have alluded, too. They’re a Top 15 team….
They came closer to beating UGA last year. we still beat them by 42. UT has a higher ranked offense and defense. Tennessee is the best rushing team in the SEC and the best Run defense in the SEC. If we get pressure, Cook will throw interceptions. Missouri barely beat MTSU and Memphis.

I’m glad the staff won’t be overlooking MO like so many fans are. MO could beat TN even if the game were in Knoxville. On the road at night will be an extreme challenge. Their offense is a really bad matchup for the Vols defense. The pressure will be on the Vols offense to score TDs often.
Nobody has scored 30 on the Vols this season. We have the 3rd best defense in the SEC and the best rushing offense and defense.

It’s not at night.

I’ve watched Missouri play quite a bit this year and unfortunately, for us, their quarterback is very good and he is also very good in an area we are weak, and that is quarterback scrambles. We need to make sure we do not let him run the ball on us.
This. We match up poorly versus Missouri. We, essentially, have no cornerbacks. And their QB, Cook, is a true dual threat who is smart and competitive. We will have to have a sturdy performance out of our D-Line to pressure him. And Joe will have to play error free football for us to win,.....which I think we will do.

You mean the KY QB who shredded our secondary and threw for 375 yards? We only sacked him once and the MZ OB is a better runner, not to mention having a better team aroind him. There's a real possibility that we go on the road and get beat by multiple scores. Gonna have to either win TOvrs or slow down and run it to control TOP.
375 still didnt beat us. The only teams to beat us stayed balanced. If our running game is going strong they might get beat by multiple scores.

Because they played Georgia tougher than 2022 vols who were better than 2023 vols
We also beat that 22 team like a rented mule. If you're gonna state some facts put them all out there. No this years team is not the 22 team. News flash GA is nowhere near as good as 22.

No idea why you're so angry about my response. The question was why are people so high on them. Because they're unquestionably better than last year. Seems like you left those "facts" out your own self.
And newsflash you can talk all you want about "nowhere near as good" but it'll be a surprise to everyone if Georgia isnt in the NCG again.
