If Hooker being out played a role in the rankings, should we have downplayed the injury and not given any specifics until after final CFP rankings? Could have just said “it’s a knee injury. We hope to get him back for post-season”. And left it at that.

Boo. Be a man and do what is right and best for Hendon. That sounds a bit too Butch Jonesesque for me.

No.

No because we still would have had to play with Joe Milton.

So you want Tennessee vs Ohio State with Joe Milton QB?

Or Clemson, North Carolina, Tulane with Joe Milton at QB?

No.
A THOUSANDS TIMES NO...

No. And the whole world knew he blew out his knee by watching the replay and how he went down.

I agree. But I think that is the kind of action being encouraged by the using the injury as an excuse for the unjust ranking.

Should've pulled him when it was obvious that the quick game wasn't working and that there was some type of issue between him and whomever on the defense.. hell.. they may have done it because they wanted Milton to get playing time.. who knows.. but the Vandy running game was what we could've/should've went with instead of sticking to what wasn't working.. Hooker would still be well.. we'd be ranked #3 and everything would be great.

The biggest factor isn't the Hooker injury, it's losing to a team we should've beaten into chicken nuggets and giving up 63 points to an offense rated well out of the top 25.

We didn't do our job as a team and to suggest we play tricks with injuries to try to get in the CFP is as weak as it gets.

WE BLEW IT AGAINST SOUTH CAROLINA!

Stop looking for "backdoors" and BS theories that the CFP Committee hates us and man up to the fact that we had it...... and we didn't finish.

I'm totally against the coach bowing to some kind of player revolt. Totally. Coach Heupel needs control of the team, not the players.

And blaming it on our not using the running game is absurd. We gave up 63 points and they scored on what.... 9 of 10 possessions? That's not a "we didn't use the running game" problem.

…wasn’t working to the tune of 38 points…. Yep, offense was the problem in that game.

Sheesh!

We ran the ball well in the first drive. Slowing the game down by running helps the defense by keeping them off the field and lets the opposing offense sit around and possibly lose their drive as well. We became predictable and desperate. We threw on 1st down for incompletions. We kept doing it over and over, so they knew it was coming. Even if we had scored quickly, it would put our defense right back out there facing their hot offense.

You a Bama fan, boy? This is Tennessee, not those lying, cheating, not really caring about players once their usefulness is gone, Alabamans, boy! We don't mind playing in a sandbox, but we don't play at the bottom of an outhouse. Got it?

The committee has given several conflicting reasons for ranking Alabama above us, none of which includes the criteria they announced in their first ranking. They didn't do it because of any logical reasons, they did it because they wanted Alabama ranked higher, and they're making up reasons on the fly to justify it.
